What is Occupational Therapy?
Let’s start with occupation.
To understand OT, first you have to understand occupation. We define occupation as any activity you do on a regular basis that serves a purpose and has meaning to you.
Occupation or the “work” of a child includes:
Play & Leisure Activities
Self-Care Skills known as Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Education, Learning & Being a Student
Social Participation
Feeding & Eating
Sleep & Rest
What does an OT do?
A pediatric occupational therapist (OT) utilizes body and brain science to design activities and provide the “just right challenge” in order to move your child towards occupational independence.
That’s why our classes…
are NOT designed by age, and instead are organized by developmental stage or skill.
We Play NYC understands that no two minds or bodies are the same, so we meet your family where you are and grow together from there.
